Congratulations to Past Master Alexandra Marks who received the Law Society President’s Lifetime Achievement Award at last week’s Law Society Excellence Awards.  Alexandra’s achievements are many and various, from her earlier career with Linklaters LLP as a partner and well regarded commercial property solicitor, her long term contribution to the work of the Law Society as a former Council and committee member, her appointment as a Recorder, her role as a Criminal Cases Review Commissioner and her staunch commitment to diversity through her work with the Judicial Appointments Commission.  Alexandra has devoted huge amounts of her time and energy to mentoring and encouraging solicitors to consider judicial appointment as a career option.  She has recently been appointed as a Commissioner by the JAC to a scheme to help prepare a small number of candidates, with no previous experience, for the Judicial Appointments Commission's selection exercise this November to appoint up to 15 deputy high court judges.
